Keystone Pipeline - More Lies From Obama!

The reason given for rejecting the Keystone Pipeline that would have given the United States a minimum of 500,000 barrels of crude oil per day greatly reducing our dependence on foreign oil particularly OPEC and lowering the price at the pump, is that the GOP didn't give the Obama administration enough time to analyze the environmental impact the pipeline would have on our farmland and fresh water sources. When the GOP agreed to raising the debt ceiling they included a 60-Day period for making a decision on Keystone. The GOP was foolish to think Obama would actually approve the project.

Well, what are the facts about Keystone? First, Congress has been studying the project for over three years and in addition, the Canadian Construction Company has agreed to move the pipeline around the fresh water tributaries. The governor of Nebraska including the state Congress and the state EPA have all signed on to the project as well as the construction unions. They want the project for the jobs it will create. The debate is over the number of actual jobs created. Some say 4500 while others say 20,000 or more. The head of the Petroleum Institute of America spoke to Fox News Network this morning and said the number of construction jobs created to build the pipeline is only the beginning. There will be many support jobs created as a result of the construction and once it is completed, a large number of jobs will be needed in  the oil and refinery industries. In addition, it will drive down the price of gasoline which will have an economic effect on the purchasing power of consumers. The more money consumers have, the more they spend and that of itself creates jobs.

Obama rejected the pipeline because he has sworn to get rid of America's dependence on fossil fuels, but he is so stubborn and pig-headed that he is not looking at the real picture, that is, green energy cannot even come close to replacing the oil and gas industries necessary for meeting all of America's energy needs for the next several decades. Obama's stupid decision has just made China's day for they are more than eager to purchase Canada's oil made from tar sands. Prime Minister Harper of Canada expressed his disappointment in Obama's naive decision and made it clear that Canada will turn to the Asian markets to sell their crude. Rejecting a source of crude oil in our backyard and own hemisphere while still depending on OPEC and Venezuela is outright folly!  Could it be that Obama is making sure the United States is dependent on his Arab Muslim friends for our energy? I think that is a credible explanation.

The truth is Obama has done everything in his power to shut down and cripple our oil and gas industries. Ask Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana, how Obama has greatly hurt the economy of his state by a moratorium on drilling in the Gulf. Even thought the federal courts have instructed Obama to open the Gulf back up for drilling, the Departments of Energy and Interior have been reluctant to do so and only approved a few permits after the higher courts held them in contempt. Obama cares nothing for the laws of our country for he continues to either ignore or by-pass them by his executive orders. He is the most lawless president I have seen in my lifetime and I go back a long way having been born when FDR was president. 

The so-called jobs president has just vetoed a much needed energy source that would create jobs and make us less dependent on foreign sources. He knows what he has done will not sit well with the American people including some democrats, so he has released a video that purportedly shows how he has reduced our dependence on foreign energy sources by 50% as well as increased domestic drilling. In addition, he claims to have created nearly 3 million jobs, but that does not take into consideration the number of jobs lost and the consistently high unemployment rate. The real number of people out of work in our nation approaches 20% not the cook-the-books figures the Obama administration gives at 8.5%.  Have you noticed the Obama administration never talks about the net jobs situation, which includes the number of jobs lost at the same time he claims new jobs have been created. The net jobs situation is that over 14 million Americans are out of work.

The price of gasoline has risen 86% since Obama has been in office. Remember when you were paying a buck and a half for a gallon of gasoline. How much are you paying today?  The national average is $3.25 and the energy prognosticators predict it will reach $4.00 by this summer and may go as high as $5.00. Obama and the United States lame duck Congress is raping the American people of viable domestic energy supplies, which would substantially lower the price at the pump back down to $1.00 or less and free us from having to depend on any foreign sources. T. Boone Pickens tried his best to convince Obama during his first year in office that we have abundant supplies of natural gas that would make us energy independent in 5 years or less, but Obama ignored it. Natural gas is cheap and in abundance in our own country.  Refineries and gasoline stations could be retrofitted with natural gas conversion equipment in a short time. The transportation industry including cars, trucks, buses, etc. runs efficiently on natural gas without losing performance. All is needed is the will and determination from Congress to switch our transportation industry from gasoline to natural gas and to heck with Obama and his liberal democratic friends who are Gaia worshipers. We cannot have a Garden of Eden type environment where vast acres are used only  to look at and at the same time supply the energy needs of over 300 million people and growing. The fact is energy companies are much more environmentally responsible and take care to not to harm the environment. 

I will give you a case in point. In rural East Texas where I was born and lived most of my childhood, a large coal deposit was discovered. Much coal was taken out of that land over many years. However, the day came when the field was no longer productive, so it was shut down. When mining began, the land was mainly flat and rolling. Now is has large hills and meadows that flourish in green grass and pine trees. It is actually a beautiful sight. You would never know that at one time the land was scrapped and mined for coal. This is what I mean by environmentally friendly oil, gas and coal mining operations. Drilling for oil and gas and mining for coal doesn't mean harming the environment or making the land ugly.

There is another lie the democrats keep repeating in order to discourage drilling. They use the same old mantra they have been saying for two decades, which is that the United States has less than 10% of the global reserves of oil and gas, so it wouldn't do any good to drill as it would not supply our needs. Well when you take into consideration that the estimated world reserves for oil and gas is in the trillions of barrels, 10% would supply our needs for several centuries. In fact, according to the energy experts, we have enough oil, natural gas and coal to last for minimum of 300 years. That is almost 8 generations - well after our children and grandchildren are dead and gone. Moreover, if we began today to open up all of our land and offshore for drilling and mining, we would be energy independent in 5-10 years. That would bring the price down immediately because the energy speculators and hedge fund managers would not be betting on futures for oil and gas due to short supply. Instead they would be buying futures based on domestic availability in our own country. That is how they make huge profits - they hedge or bet that the price for future supplies of oil and gas will go up because of short supply and shaky global markets particularly the Middle East.

When Obama issued a moratorium on drilling in the Gulf,  guess who moved in to those areas where proven oil reserves exist? Our so-called Asian friends - China. Cuba also began drilling in the Gulf and found new fields for oil and gas. China is aggressively pursuing oil around the globe and making long-term commitments to purchase crude oil for their growing population while the United States rejects projects in our own backyard like the Keystone project. How stupid is that. Russia and China must be laughing their heads off at Obama's near-sightedness and wondering who this clown is that is the so-called leader of the strongest nation on earth. Personally, I believe the United States will soon be tested by China and Russia militarily to prove who is actually the world's superpower.  When the waves settle on the beaches, we may be shocked to discover we are no longer the world's sole superpower.
