THE OTHER SIN OF SODOM

Have you noticed that Church Leaders Have Become Silent on the Homosexual Issue, While the Obama Administration is Determined to Make the Gay and Lesbian Agenda the Law of the Land. The Following Article I Wrote Two Years ago on “The Other Sin of Sodom” is Worth Posting Again:

The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are first mentioned in Genesis 10:19 as part of the border of the Canaanites. Then in Genesis 13:13, we are told the men of Sodom were wicked sinners before the Lord; notice the double number 13. According to Bullinger in his book, Number in Scripture, “…every occurrence of the number thirteen and likewise of every multiple of it, stamps that with which it stands in connection with rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, revolution or some kindred idea.” A double number thirteen emphasizes great wickedness.

We know from Genesis 19:1-13, 2 Peter 2:6-10, and Jude Verse 7 what the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was – unbridled, unrestrained and militant homosexual sex:

Genesis 19:1-13 NLT

1 That evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom, and Lot was sitting there as they arrived. When he saw them, he stood up to meet them. Then he welcomed them and bowed low to the ground. 2 "My lords," he said, "come to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may then get up in the morning as early as you like and be on your way again." "Oh no," they said, "we'll just spend the night out here in the city square." 3 But Lot insisted, so at last they went home with him. He set a great feast before them, complete with fresh bread made without yeast. After the meal, 4 as they were preparing to retire for the night, all the men of Sodom, young and old, came from all over the city and surrounded the house. 5 They shouted to Lot, "Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out so we can have sex with them." 6 Lot stepped outside to talk to them, shutting the door behind him. 7 "Please, my brothers," he begged, "don't do such a wicked thing. 8 Look — I have two virgin daughters. Do with them as you wish, but leave these men alone, for they are under my protection." 9 "Stand back!" they shouted. "Who do you think you are? We let you settle among us, and now you are trying to tell us what to do! We'll treat you far worse than those other men!" And they lunged at Lot and began breaking down the door. 10 But the two angels reached out and pulled Lot in and bolted the door. 11 Then they blinded the men of Sodom so they couldn't find the doorway. 12 "Do you have any other relatives here in the city?" the angels asked. "Get them out of this place — sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone else. 13 For we will destroy the city completely. The stench of the place has reached the LORD, and he has sent us to destroy it."

2 Peter 2:6-10 ESV

6 if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked 8(for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); 9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.

Jude 7 NKJV

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

In Genesis 18:20, the Lord God said the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah was very great and their sin grievous. The Hebrew meaning of “very great” is to multiply by the myriad, that is, the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah had increased far beyond the bound of moral decency and the implication is they invented new and bizarre ways to express their wicked behavior.

Peter describes the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah as defiling passion and Jude says they went after strange flesh meaning men having sex with men and women having sex with women. The apostle Paul also mentioned the same thing in Romans 1:21-28. These are verses that gays and lesbians despise and twist in order to condone their behavior as normal. However, no amount of twisting the Word of God will change the import of its meaning and God will judge unrepentant homosexuals.  He will not overlook their sin or the nations that condone such.

Anyone with common sense and whose conscience has not grown callous by habitual sin and rebellion knows that homosexual behavior is perverse and abnormal. Planet earth is inhabited by heterosexuals – people of opposite sex – male and female. Homosexuals themselves are the product of a heterosexual union for in order to reproduce, a male sperm must join to a female egg to produce a another human being. Homosexuals who have children by natural birth must enlist the help of a heterosexual male or female for it is impossible for two men or two women to have offspring. This is the way God created the human race and set forth the Law of reproduction – that a male and a female would come together in sexual intimacy and produce offspring - male and female. Therefore, homosexuality is a perversion of God’s natural order of creation and that is why God calls it an abomination. It goes without saying that the human race would eventually become extinct given enough time for the practice and spread of homosexuality.

Regardless of how government and so-called Church leaders endorse homosexuality, Genesis 19:13 tells us how God sees it:  “The stench of Sodom and Gomorrah had reached the Lord and He sent His angels to destroy it.” Make no mistake about it, God will one day destroy homosexuality from the face of the earth including the nations and cities that condone it. I Corinthians 6:9 says no homosexual will inherit the kingdom of God. This is the Word of God and it makes no difference what the homosexual community says otherwise. Unless they repent and turn from that sin, they will die in their sins and face the judgment bar of God in which the verdict will be the Lake of Fire.

God judged Sodom and Gomorrah for its deviant homosexual lifestyle with fire from heaven. This is not only the Biblical record, but archeologists have found what they believe are the twin cities of Sodom and Gomorrah lying beneath the Dead Sea. Divers have recovered artifacts from the Dead Sea that date to the approximate time of the destruction of these cities. They have also discovered pottery, currency, and other items that reveal an affluent society, which Sodom no doubt was. More importantly, archeologists have found in the rock formations where they think Sodom and Gomorrah existed, evidence of an intense heat that melted and reduced the environment to rubble. Is this just coincidence? No, it proves God’s record of Sodom and Gomorrah is accurate and that as 2 Peter 2:6 says, their destruction was an example to all who follow in the same sin.

The people of Sodom and Gomorrah practiced homosexuality to a degree we have not yet seen in our time is clear from the above Scriptures. I do believe homosexuality will become even more vile as laws are enacted to protect and condone it. However, there is another reason God destroyed these cities other than the sexual immorality.

In Genesis 19, the Bible says all the men of the city, both young and old surrounded the house of Lot and demanded that he release the two angels into their hands so they could have sex with them. When Lot refused by offering his daughters instead (This shows how spiritually insensitive Lot had become by living in Sodom), the gay men became angry and threatened to force their way into Lot’s house. They would have if the angels had not struck them with blindness. How was it that the men of Sodom could exhibit this kind of behavior against Lot and the two angels?  Obviously, militant homosexuality in Sodom and Gomorrah was protected by law, otherwise they could not have threatened to harm Lot or had the freedom to roam the streets seeking victims to sexually abuse.

The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah had legalized homosexuality and made it not equal to heterosexuals, but superior. Genesis 19 shows that Lot did not threatened the gay men with legal recourse, but spoke to them in a conciliatory manner as if he was afraid of them. People who have no protection under the law exhibit the kind of behavior Lot showed. Ask the Black people how they felt before the Civil Rights Movement when the law did not protect them from lynching’s and abuse by their White oppressors.

The other sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was that homosexuality was protected by law and elevated to a favored status whereby heterosexuals had no recourse against it. This is precisely where the United States and the other nations of the world are headed and the current “hate crimes” laws pending in our Congress will eventually achieve this purpose if passed. [it is now law].

In July of 2003, I wrote an article proving from the Scriptures that the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overrule the Texas Sodomy law fulfilled Luke 17:28 for the Greek meaning of “planted” is to instill a doctrine in the earth. That doctrine is legalized and protected homosexuality. Jesus said the generation to which He returned would be like the days of Lot described in Genesis 19.

The following articles are a small sample of the path the United States and the nations of the world are pursuing to elevate the gay and lesbian agenda to a superior status by an aggressive campaign to silence all opposition.  If one group achieves protection under the law from all dissenters with fines and imprisonment, then they have become a special and superior class:

- State anti-sodomy laws, once universal, now are rare. Those on the books are infrequently enforced but underpin other kinds of discrimination, lawyers and gay rights supporters said (Associated Press)..

- A landmark ruling granted a two-year old toddler three parents – his biological mother, her lesbian partner, and their homosexual sperm donor (The Sunday Star-Times of New Zealand).

- President Bush cheers Gay church after Marriage Week. Shortly after supporting Marriage Protection Week, President Bush sent a congratulatory letter to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Community churches (gay organization) in which he stated “that churches like MCC put hope in people’s hearts and a sense of purpose in their lives.” How can the President support Marriage Protection week [the union of a man and a woman] and then praise a gay organization that has performed over 6000 same-sex weddings? It is hypocrisy and political expediency (On-line News Sources).

- Log Cabin Club Executive Director, Patrick Guerriero (A Republican homosexual organization) proudly claims it has weekly access to the Bush White House (Metro-Weekly – a Washington homosexual magazine).

- According to the San Francisco Chronicle, President Bush quietly added several gay men to his administration, which proves that the President has a pro-gay agenda regardless of what he says in public.

- The United States becomes just the fourth country in the world where same-sex couples can tie the knot joining the Netherlands, Belgium and Canada (NewsMax Wires).

- Democratic Senator, Joseph Biden, says that nationwide same-sex marriage is inevitable in the United States and is necessary for our maturation as a nation that favors equal rights for all people (The Washington Times).

- Homosexuals have won so many battles in legislatures, courts, and the media, they can almost taste victory just ahead (CBN.com).

- Homosexuals Are Coming to Power In America and are heading for the American government. This is disgusting and is America’s decay and certain decline (On-line Pravda – A Russian News Agency). The Russians have more moral decency that the United States.

- In 2002, Mel White co-founder of Soulforce (A homosexual organization) leased a house across the street from Jerry Falwell’s church in Lynchburg, Virginia and was joined by gays from other states to picket in front of the Church (St Petersburg Times of Tampa Bay). This is militant homosexuality and something Christians are not allowed to do. Six Christians were arrested in Pennsylvania for quietly protesting on the opposite side of the street from an abortion clinic. They were eventually acquitted, but not before serving jail time.

- No sooner had the U.S. House passed hate crimes bill H.R. 1592 than Congressman, Barney Frank, introduced H.R. 2015 – The Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2007 which will force all businesses to hire homosexuals, cross-dressers, bi-sexuals, and transgenders. Religious organizations and churches are not exempt (WND).

- New York City now has an all gay high school – Harvey Milk High School funded by gay rights organizations. However, public funds were used to renovate the school. Mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed the new school (New York Post).

- Homosexual book targets first graders. “The King & King”, a homosexual publication has two princes marrying and sharing a kiss and was presented to a North Carolina public elementary school without notification to parents (Associated Press).

- A growing number of U. S. Colleges are actively recruiting homosexual students as part of their efforts to build diverse freshman classes (The Boston Globe).

- The University of Boise State has been exposed for trying to cover-up promoting homosexuals by designating restrooms in a new building expansion for “transgenders” (Associated Press).

- The conservative Jewish Theological Seminary is now accepting gay and lesbian applications. While this conflicts with Jewish Law, the seminary’s chancellor said this was necessary to stay fully responsive to and immersed in our society and culture(JP).

- A federal judge in Massachusetts ordered the gay agenda taught to Christians who attend public schools in Massachusetts. He said students of Christians need to the teachings to be engaged and productive citizens. He also said that if the parents of Christian children did not like his ruling, they could place their children in private schools or elect officials to the school board who agreed with them. In essence, he told the parents they had no say in what was taught their children (WND).

- Allstate terminated an employee for taking a position against gays on an internet website. It was done on his home computer and not work-related. He filed a lawsuit against Allstate and won. Allstate is just one of many American Corporations that actively supports gay rights. At the time we had our automotive and homeowners insurance with Allstate and cancelled both policies (WND).

- Italy’s nomine, Rocco Buttiglione, to become the EU’s Justice and Home Affairs Commissioner, was denied after he said he considered homosexuality a sin (NewsMax.com).

- UNGLOBE (U.N. Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual Employees), a U.N. group supporting gay and lesbian rights has a multi-pronged strategy that is aimed at debunking religious opposition to their agenda. One of the principal supporters of UNGLOBE is Democratic Congressman and homosexual, Barney Frank who has just introduced H.R. 2015 mentioned above to require American businesses to hire transgenders. In addition, the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission or IGLHRC, says it wants the laws changed on sodomy, age of consent and other sex acts, laws on prostitution, laws penalizing cross-dressing, and laws on obscenity and pornography. They also are lobbying against denial of same-sex marriage and laws on parenting and adoption (WND). It is obvious they are getting their way in our courts and Congress.

- Mainline Protestants including the Anglican Church of England are divided over gay ordinations and the dissidents are splitting off and organizing separate divisions. The Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, and Episcopalians are sharply divided over the ordination of gay bishops. Jesus said a house divided cannot stand and the polarization of religion is occurring globally. However, the Bible says that liberal religions will unite under the False Prophet in the last days. Therefore, there is coming a religious personality that will unite all religions in one church the book of Revelation calls the Harlot (Revelation 17).

- Howard Dean, the Chairman of the DNC said "that from a religious point of view, if God thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created gay people" (Washington Post.com).

- According to NARTH (National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality) there is no research proving there is a gay gene or gay brain (Rev. Louis Sheldon, Traditional Values Coalition).

- The Church of England’s Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, said "that faithful homosexual relationships do not conflict with the teachings of the Bible" (ABC Online).

None of the above excerpts reflect the Biblical worldview, but are the opinions and thinking of people, organizations, and governments who have rejected the truth of God’s Word to satisfy their own depraved agendas. They also prove that the gay and lesbian lobbyists are a strong force globally and aggressively pursuing a program to literally change the United States into a purely secular and Anti-Christian nation. Once any nation adopts laws that make homosexuals a special class of people with superior rights as was the case with Sodom and Gomorrah, the judgment of God is certain.

The liberal left-wing politicians that think they are being more humanitarian by rejecting morality based upon the Word of God are literally playing with fire and bringing about the demise and destruction of this once great nation. The reason the United States is having so many problems socially, politically, religiously, financially, and militarily is a direct result of its national sins. Homosexuality is not good for the nation and damning to those who embrace it. The politicians and religious leaders that condone and promote it are assisting in the judgment of these lost souls not helping them. They are literally trading one bondage for an even greater one - eternal torment in the Lake of Fire.  

It is not that we hate homosexuals, but we strongly oppose the homosexual lifestyle. Read how the gospel of Jesus Christ changed her life to be the kind of person God created her to be. Any gay or lesbian who desires to come out of that lifestyle can if they will humble themselves, repent of their sin, and receive by faith Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.

The Word of God says “that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). These are the last days and the time is short. The book of Revelation gives this stern warning concerning those who continue in sin and ignore not only the truth, but the common sense to know when something is wrong such as homosexuality:

Revelation 22:9-16 NKJV

9 Then he said to me,"See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God." 10 And he said to me, "Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. 11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy , let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still." 12 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

The so-called “new morality” that people like Congressman Barney Frank are trying to pass into law in this nation that will result in homosexuals having more rights than straight people is gross deception and utter spiritual darkness. If this nation is to survive, the Christian Church must unite against the attempt to exchange lies for the truth by praying, contacting their Congressmen, and voting to put moral people in office. It is our Christian duty to vote and stand against sin and unrighteousness, and if we do not, there is no future for our children and grandchildren in this nation.
